Curb
Ramps Buy
Anyone who is
in the curb and sidewalk concrete industry has heard this over
and over again, “When building your curb ramps buy detectable
warnings”. You know, the truncated domes for the visually
impaired.
So you do just
that you go out to your local construction supply store, purchase
your tile and put them into your ramps. You’re done! All
you have to worry about is that they last a year and you as a
contractor are now free of any and all liability. I mean, they
should last right? They have a standard five year warranty, how
could they not last the one year.
We have seen detectable warning tiles last only three weeks and
crack.

Look, I understand,
lowest bidder wins, that’s just the way this industry works
so naturally if you can quote Detectable Warnings at $20 a square
foot vs. $24 why wouldn’t you? I understand that everybody
has a budget, but it’s not going to be in your budget when
the City or General Contractor calls you up and has you replace
all these Detectable Warning tiles that crack, failed and created
tripping hazards all over the place, and believe me it’s
not an easy gig to replace these truncated dome tiles. Whether
it is the adhered surface applied style for existing concrete
or the embedded type cast in place tiles for new concrete and
fresh pours.
We all
have a budget, but will it be in your budget to have to saw cut,
jack hammer, re-pour and re-install all these Detectable Warning
materials that have failed pre-maturely?
When building
your curb ramps buy once, buy right, buy Armor-Tile. There
is plenty of evidence to show that Armor-Tile is stronger, last
longer and has been installed the longest in the streets of the
United States of America before anybody else. You may initially
save a buck or two with other materials but Armor-Tile is competitively
priced and guaranteed the lowest life cycle cost.
