Truncated Domes Nonslip

We are pleased to provide the information on the Co-efficient of Friction (COF) for Armor-Tile Detectable Warning Surface Tiles; (COF) is used to determine Slip Resistance also referred to by some as “Truncated Domes nonslip”

The recommended Co-efficient of Friction given by the Occupational, Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for Walking Surfaces and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for Detectable Warning Surfaces (Truncated Domes nonslip) is equal to or greater than 0.6 as tested to ASTM 1028-96.

The below ASTM C 1028-96 test “Determining the Static Co-efficient of Friction of Ceramic Tile and Other like Surfaces by the Horizontal Dynamometer Pull-Meter Method”, provides the static Coefficient of Friction for Armor-Tile Detectable Warning Surfaces.

Results:

The static coefficient of friction results are listed in Tables 1 and 2.
The dry static coefficient of friction was determined to be 0.9210 (As Received) and 0.9772 (Cleaned). The wet static coefficient of friction was found to be 0.8623 (As Received) and 0.9354 (Cleaned).

Armor-Tiles test report clearly shows that our results are far above the required determined value allowed to be considered Nonslip.

Armor-Tile Surface Applied Detectable Warning Tile Systems are fully compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Section 4.29.2 and California Building Code Title 24 as a Detectable Warning Surface.

If you would like the information on the Co-efficient of Friction (COF) ASTM 1028-96, or any of the ASTM Test Report on our Armor-Tile Detectable Warning Surface Systems, please do not hesitate to contact us at (800) 682-2525.
