Concrete Detectable Warning Area Form

Concrete Detectable Warning Area FormIn order to be considered compliant, truncated domes must have the proper dimensions which are: base diameter of 0.9”, top diameter of 0.45”, and height of 0.2”.  Some products on the market involve stamping the dome pattern with a concrete detectable warning area form which is intended to save money on material, but tends to be very labor intensive.  It is very difficult to stamp the correct dome size.  If just one of the domes is considered noncompliant, the inspector may reject the entire surface.  If the concrete has already hardened by the time the ramp is rejected, it will have to be demolished, repoured, and restamped.  To rebuild a ramp is very costly but there is an alternative.

If the ramp is rejected because of improperly formed domes, Armor-Tile’s Surface Applied System can be installed by grinding off the concrete domes and fastening a single panel overtop.  However, if the ramp has not been built, and you have the chance to reconsider using a concrete detectable warning area form, Armor-Tile’s Cast In Place System is the best choice.  Cast In Place panels guarantee the correct dome profile every time, and only require 5 minutes of labor to install.
