PART 3 EXECUTION
- INSTALLATION
- Comply with applicable requirements
of the panel manufacturer’s installation instructions.
- Panels shall have a structural
epoxy polymer concrete fill and epoxy coated rebar system
installed by the panel manufacturer.
- Layout paver tiles and joints
to fit existing spacing between expansion joints in concrete

the platform track edge. Provide panels with largest size
units as possible at ends.
- Sawcut a ¼ " wide by
1 ½ " deep groove 24" back from platform edge
as required.
- Remove and dispose of the
concrete topping approximately 24" back from edge of
concrete.
- Provide a uniform and true
1 ½ " deep rebate as required by diamond grinding the
structural concrete substrate which is revealed after the
concrete topping is removed.
- Patching with approved mortar
compound may be required in areas where the recess depth
exceeds the tolerances or where deteriorated concrete requires
removal.
- Vacuum concrete sub-base
to remove dirt, dust debris and loose particles. Finish
preparation by wiping any residual dust or dirt with an
approved solvent.
- Apply heavy duty elastomeric
polyurethane adhesive with a ½ " square notch trowel.
- Place plastic shims on substrate
to coincide with leading edge corners of paver tile to set
paver tile flush with adjacent surface.
- Set first paver tile over
shims and adhesive and make final adjustment to the shims.
- Drill one 3/8 " diameter
by 7" deep hole in the pre-determined paver tile recess
and vacuum clean.
- Set one stainless steel expansion
anchor (3/8 " dia. X 5" long) checking that torque
of 20-25 foot pounds is achieved.
- Place plastic shim on substrate
to coincide with leading edge corner of second paver tile
to be placed.
- Set second paver tile over
shims and adhesive and make final adjustments to the shim.
Repeat the aforementioned steps for a continuous installation
of paver tiles.
- Return to the start of paver
tile installation to complete the finish operations.
- Mechanically abrade, vacuum
clean and solvent wipe two concealed cap recesses.
- Apply urethane sealant/adhesive
into cap well to cover fastener then set concealed cap with
mallet.
- Vacuum clean, mechanically
abrade and solvent wipe leading edge groove between panel
and adjacent concrete surface.
- Place 3/8" diameter
foam rope at bottom of leading edge groove.
- Tape off each side of leading
edge groove in preparation for the self leveling urethane
sealant.
- Pour Hilti self leveling
urethane sealant in groove filling flush to top of joint
then remove the tape prior to curing.
- Inspect and clean the paver
tile after allowing the self leveling sealant to cure undisturbed
or protected for 48 hours.
- Maintain expansion and contraction
joints in platforms and any other reference marker or opening
that may be required to be left exposed.
- CLEANING AND PROTECTING
- Protect paver tiles against
damage during construction period to comply with paver tile
manufacturer’s specification.
- Protect paver tiles against
damage from rolling loads following installation by covering
with plywood or hardwood.
- Clean paver tiles not more
than four days prior to date scheduled for inspection intended
to establish date of substantial completion in each area
of project. Clean paver tile as specified by manufacturer.
